'Chip Shop' Batter

6 tablespoons self raising flour
1 200 ml bottle chilled light beer
salt


Sieve the flour into a bowl with the salt.

Pour on the cold beer and stir with a wire whisk.

Do not overbeat, just stir until it is more or less combined.

Dip lightly floured fillets of fish and fry immediately.
